THE TIME IS RIPE...

We assisted our first client – a Silicon Valley-based electronics firm – in setting up their European operations in 1982. Within five years, Europe had become their most important market in terms of sales and contribution to the bottom line.

Back in 1992, when ‘Single Europe’ legislation came into effect, the ABLE™ team were advising our clients that fears of a "Fortress Europe" were misplaced. Providing their operations and partnerships were established with care, they would benefit from beating their competition to the huge European market and consolidating their Europe-wide presence.

Since 1997, the ‘Schengen’ area, removing border checkpoints and controls, has included 15 EU and non-EU countries. Eleven more countries are due to join Schengen by 2007. Twelve EU countries have been using a single currency since the beginning of 2002.

Ten more countries joined the European Union in 2004, confirming Europe’s status as the greatest world market.

Never before has the time been more ripe for companies which have not yet begun fully exploiting the value of the European market to take a fresh look or to make their first move.
